Many Black professionals working in corporate America feel they must overcome obstacles that only exist for them.
Research from SHRM and McKinsey prove this isn't a feeling only. These differences in the experiences of Black professionals in the workplace are facts, and there are 5 primary challenges to advancing racial equity in the workplace.
Five Most Common Challenges
that materially affect Black representation, advancement,
and experience in the workplace:
Frontline jobs largely do not connect Black employees with sufficient opportunities to advance.
Entry-level jobs are a revolving door, and Black employee attrition is high.
Black employees encounter a broken rung from entry-level jobs to managerial jobs.
A trust deficit exists between Black employees and their companies.
Black employees lack the sponsorship and allyship to support their advancement.
As we celebrate the legacy of Black history that has shaped the world we live in for the better, we must also embrace the fact that there are Black leaders today that are making Black history.
The challenges of the past 2 years have made it clear that the leadership skills that lead us here must be reimagined as we move forward and build company cultures that prioritize inclusion and equity at every level.
It's time to reimagine leadership and intentionally equip people leaders and emerging Black professionals with skills to thrive!
Advancing Black Professionals Summit is a career and leadership development experience designed to celebrate Black History by acknowledging, investing in, and advancing the Black professionals that are leading and making history in our company and communities today and tomorrow!
This event combines workshops, fireside chats, networking, and coaching for a one-of-a-kind experience!
By bringing Black professionals, people leaders, business executives together, this summit helps companies elevate their employer brand to attract diverse talent while also investing in professional development to retain diverse talent.
